Antonique Smith, Official Sun Day Ambassador!

“This is our moment to show the world that the clean energy future is ready. We have everything we need, we just have to build it.

Through Sun Day, we’ll sing, march, and shine a light on what’s possible.”

(New York, NY)– Sun Day, the first national day of action dedicated to accelerating clean energy deployment across the United States, is thrilled to announce its partnership with acclaimed singer, actress, and climate activist Antonique Smith.

Antonique brings her voice, her music, and her long-standing climate leadership to Sun Day, helping rally communities to demand the political will to build out the clean energy solutions we already have. She has debuted a special rendition of Here Comes the Sun as the anthem for Sun Day, carrying a message of hope and determination, that the power to solve the climate crisis is already here, we just need to turn it on.

Taking place on September 21, 2025, Sun Day will mobilize thousands of events across the country, from rooftop solar tours and community ribbon cuttings to e-bike parades and art installations. It marks a new kind of climate mobilization, one centered not on fear, but on the abundance of clean energy already available.

Antonique, a co-founder of the nonprofit Climate Revival, has spent over a decade using music and storytelling to empower communities of color and faith to lead on climate action. In her work with Earth Day, she helped mobilize millions through music and organizing. Now, with Sun Day, she brings that same passion to help shift the narrative from climate crisis to clean energy opportunity.

"I joined the movement in 2014 when I learned that people were dying from the pollution driving climate change, and heartbreakingly, 11 years later, it’s only gotten worse. But there are real solutions. People don’t realize just how much better, healthier, and cheaper clean energy like solar power already is. If they knew, I believe they’d join the fight to make the transition happen.

That’s why I’m so excited to not just be part of Sun Day, but to serve as its ambassador. My brother Bill McKibben asked me to sing Here Comes The Sun a decade ago, and I’ve been singing it ever since. It's now become the Sun Day anthem. In a time of chaos and fear, people need hope, they need joy. Sun Day brings both, and it’s exactly what our movement, our communities, and the world need right now."

Backed by a diverse coalition of advocates, clean energy workers, artists, scientists, and everyday people, Sun Day demands the political will to scale and speed the deployment of renewable energy across the U.S.
